The NRA basic AR15 rifle teaches the basic knowledge, skills, and attitude necessary for the safe use of an AR15 rifle in target shooting. This course is at least 8 to 12 hours long and includes classroom and range time learning to shoot AR15 rifles.
Students learn NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest sitting position, standing and kneeling position.
Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, take a Basics of Rifle Shooting Student Examination, and receive a course completion certificate.

- NO LIVE AMMO IS PERMITTED IN THE CLASSROOM.
- LIVE AMMO WILL BE USED ONLY AT THE RANGE DURING LIVE FIRE EXERCISE.
- Students can bring their own AR15 (223/5.56)/AR9 (9mm) rifle.
- All firearms must be cased & unloaded!
- All students must notify the instructor if they bring their own gun before the class starts.
- Pricing does not include ammunition and applicable the Range fees of $15 - $35. You will need 50-100 rounds ammunition. This can be purchased at the Range.
